is it possible to disable sound in firefox? or possible to stop the program from sending requests to the sound system?

there is this one flash game i like,but it can have 1000's of little particles on it that make sound, and as much as i'd like to think that's even possible, it tries to send quests to my sound system to produce whatever sounds and it's crazily annoying.

it's most noticeable when i'm playing music already and the sound system is "busy" according to firefox. if the amount gets high enough and stacked up far enough, it'll just close/crash to the desktop...lol

i'm not looking for method to turn my volume down. i'm looking for things to stop firefox and/or flash from eating up cpu usage from sound usage.


i'm using an 800 mhz cpu, and the sound on that game req's upwards on 400 mhz from all those dumb little particles having sound... heh

using my temp gimmick's to crash my sound system, that game and firefox and other things run blazing fast.
