Disable pipelight flash plugin ONLY in Iceweasel
Hi folks,
I installed Pipelight and Pipelight-flash plugins on Debian Sid in order to be able to watch films online on Netflix. To use this website I use Midori and I use Iceweasel for almost everything else (surfing the web, etc.). After installing the pipelight and pipelight-flash plugins, flash crashes sometimes while using Youtube on Iceweasel, so I'd like to use the real flash plugin for linux on Iceweasel and only use pipelight on Midori. The problem is that, when I open Iceweasel, go to "Settings > Plugins" and disable the Pipelight flash plugin, the real flash plugin for linux gets disabled as well, so I have to leave both enabled (which is probably what occassionally causes flash to crash on Iceweasel). So, the question is how to to disable the flash plugin provided by pipelight only on Iceweasel while leaving it enabled on Midori. BTW, my system is 64 bit, in case this is relevant. Thanks in advance for your help! |
do it the same way as in firefox
iceweasl IS firefox with the branding removed for ff 31 tools / add ons then the "plugins button" and select disable for piplight |
Hi John VV, thanks for your reply.
The problem is precisely that the real Linux flash plugin gets disabled when I disable the pipelight flash plugin. I am attaching two images to illustrate this. In the first image you can see two flash plugins: V. 14.0.0.145, which is the one provided by pipelight, and V. 11.2.202.378, which is the Linux-native flash plugin (the one I'd like to use with Iceweasel). In the image it can be seen that I have disabled the former and left the latter enabled. However, after closing Iceweasel and opening it again, both plugins are disabled (second image). By the way, I have permanently disabled the Silverlight/Pipelight plugin (at the bottom of the images); that's not the problem, but the two flash versions. I will keep tinkering with this, but if nothing works, I might have to uninstall the native flash plugin. Cheers! |
