i'm a newbie of redhat linux
i want to know the directory's use
for example the /dev are used to contain some device.and /var used to stock with some temp file.
who can tell me the others
for example the /home /usr

which describe the intended use of the standard directory structure.
Note that the file system heirarchy is just a convention that has been reached over many years. Indeed some would argue for a different approach, so if you've any comments then give 'em an air.
