Direct Connect Clients for Linux

Hi.
Does anyone here have any experience with Direct Connect clients on Linux? I've been using dcgui for about a day now and I must say the following: It's not too cool (in my humble opinion). It hogs the CPU like there's no tomorrow, lags immensely, has uhm... strange up features and bad layout of everything. Gah. Well, to avoid further frustration I thought I'd ask opinions here.
Has anyone had good experiences with dc qt? Or QuickDC? Or any other client? (These, to the best of my very limited knowledge in these matters, are the two most popular DC clients after dcgui.)
Thanks.

Edited: Sorry about the harsh language before. :/

well first off watch your tougne as you hurt my dainty little ears ;-)

secondly, your right!
it comes down to the fact of personal opinion, and i personally think dcgui-qt ROCKS and is way better than any DC client that exists in the windows world, and linux world for that matter ...
as of dc_qt i did try a while ago, before i knew of dcgui-qt and it never ever worked properly, and then i found all these little tweaks that you had to perform to get a download goin, but the thing was that them little tweaks didn't work, and i couldn't rarely ever download anything with it, so i canned that program i thats when i discovered dcgui-qt ... and i'll never turn back :p

i have never tried quickDC so i can't comment ....
so i don't know what you want outta this thread, but i will still recommend dcgui-qt ...
maybe even try a different theme ... i know what you mean about it being a hog at times ... but sometimes a lighter theme may help you out, if any ...

DrOzz: Sorry, and thanks for the reply. As for dcgui-qt I didn't try it, but you talk of it like it's the same thing as dcgui. Is it?

DrOzz 02-16-2004 07:38 AM

well i assumed thats what your talking about .. as i never heard of one just called dcgui, unless thats the frontend for that text based dc client (forget name) ...
anyways, this is what i am talking about

Thanks man! dcgui-qt owns. At first I thought it was the same as dcgui too but it's the opposite. It's so niiiiice. Just what I was looking for and I agree with you. It kicks every other DC client's ass. (Of those I've tried out so far.)
Now I only have one problem you can perhaps help me with since you're familiar with dcgui-qt?
I can join hubs, search and download but there's this one hub that's giving me troubles. (The one hub that matters to me.)
This is the thing:
Quote:

[14:47:57] <DCGUI> Connected
[14:47:57] <Hub-Security> This hub is running version 0.7.12 of Open DC Hub.
[14:47:57] <Hub-Security> Your nickname is registered, please supply a password.
[14:47:57] <DCGUI> No profile found for this hub
[14:47:59] <Hub-Security> Logged in.
[14:47:59] <DCGUI> Joins: Julli-
[14:48:29] <DCGUI> Parts: Julli-
[14:48:29] <DCGUI> Joins: Julli-
[14:48:29] <DCGUI> Error: 'Success'
[14:48:30] <DCGUI> Disconnected
[14:49:30] <DCGUI> Connected
... and repeat over and over and over.... Whereas I am the user Julli-. Any idea of what's going on? I'm not getting this on other hubs.
Anyways, thanks for the help so far. :D

No idea why... but after having having restarted X it works flawlessly.
Thanks for all your input DrOzz
