Difficulty with compatibility of Grub and System Commander

Hi there....This is my first experience with Linux. I've loaded Red Hat on a machine with Win 2K which also has System Commander. When I receive the option to select os, I select Linux and get a black screen with the word Grub. Thinking System Commander might be the issue, I disabled it and the system loaded Windows. What do I need to do to get past this point and have Grub do what it needs to do??

while you wait for a better reply,,,,I don't know about sys commander but assume its in your MBR.

2) so maybe you need to look at the chainloading of grub via the ntloader way mentioned here

3) its early days yet, but maybe if you look at how grub works you might consider putting grub in mbr to chainload 2000 and direct boot linux?
