Difficulty in installation (C compiler).

Hi, I'm trying to install WorkStation 4 on my computer, I start the installation and everything goes great, but when I get to this line, everything breaks down:

None of VMware Workstation's pre-built vmmon modules is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes] yes

Using compiler "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include] /usr/src/linux/include

The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

I can retype the location but it says that directory does not exist. I have no idea what the problem is.

This program also requires a real-time clock function and a pareallel port PC-style hardware option (CONFIG_Parport_PC) to be installed. I have no idea what either of them are.

Thanks a bunch for any help.

You need to install the linux-kernel headers,
possibly the entire kernel source, too.

Cheers,

I don't think that there's detailed instructions for
your particular situation out there... I'd recommend
reading the rute-guide as an
introduction to Linux, and then have a look at the
man pages for rpm.

Cheers,
Tink
