Different resolution from Windows to Linux ...

Hi,
I've on the same machine:
- Linux S.O. (Mandriva 2007 KDE)
- Windows XP pro

I've set the same monitor resolution (1024x768) on both S.O..
I also use the same configuration for Mozilla Firefox.

So, Why does a webpage showed under linux is bigger (lower resolution) than the one showed under Windows?

It seems linux and windows manage resolution differently.

Thank you in advance.
Excuse for my english.

Maybe your browser settings differ in regards to fonts?

I haven't experienced that issue with web pages, but I'm guessing it's something to do with fonts.

Have you got all the same fonts installed on both systems? If not then I'm guessing that the fonts the Linux version treats as "equivalent" to the Windows fonts are actually a slightly different size, hence the difference.

OK, thank you.

I used Courier and Times fonts, instead of Courier New and Times New Roman.
Now display is almost the same; only a difference: bold characters, with the same dimension, appear, under linux, bigger than the same on windows.
But it's a detail.

Thank you again.
