Differences of "make" in Kdev and cmd line

I have been having difficulty with Kdevelop when "make"ing my project. I began a custom build project since I had written my makefiles already and have uncommon build directories (ie, mixing CORBA builds, libraries, multiple binaries, integrating multiple middleware etc.)

everything is fine when running make from command line. if I run make from Kdevelop it gives me :undefined reference to 'main', commonly caused by the ordering of object files and libs when linking (additionally it does not seem to recognize any references which are defined in shared libs (.so) even when I know that they are in my path (LD.. PATH etc) and set in my makefiles.

Basically without Kdevelop everything works!!! Are there any special things in Kdevelop that I have to configure. I went through the whole gambit of crap for options, kconfigure etc and nothing seems to help.

I would love to use Kdevelop since it is a nice IDE with integrated debugger.

PS code completion is nice, but not working either why?

To save me and you time please refrain from obvious solutions as I probably have already tried them, unless you really think I missed it ( I have read the Kdevelop docs, and I do not want to mess with automake and config)

DIST: SuSE 8.2, Kdevelop 2.1

A SIDE NOTE: once built on command line, if I make through Kdevelop everything is fine (since everything is up to date of course)
