difference in drivers

I am looking at printer drivers for a brand of printer called Brother.

what is the difference between LPR drivers and CUPS drivers? I googled them but I do not know which one I should choose. I looked it up and it just seems like they are different for different software systems? How do I know what to choose?

I would refer to the wiki for the distro your running myself on which driver to use or google for the list of printers either of the drivers will run.
Either driver will work for the Brother printer, depending on the model.
I just did a quick google for cups as that's what I'm familiar with and use.
Here's list of the Brother printers that cups drivers will run:

edit: just did another google on lpr and evidently it's intended specifically for the Brother printer:

I understand the google concept, but sometimes it is just too much to look, especially if you know nothing about it. Thanks.

Hi Steve,
If you have a choice use the CUPS driver. I'm using a Brother 1230 running with the Foomatic HL1250 driver. It works brilliantly and has done for the 5+ years I've had it.
cheers,
jdk
