Difference between kernel - debugging and application debugging


Hi all,

Could anybody please tell me that what is the TECHNICAL DIFFERENCE between kernel debugging and application debugging?

Debugging is the process of tracking down errors in programs.

Kernels and applications are all "programs". Thus--at the core--there is no difference. Kernel programmers and application programmers might tend to use different tools, however.

Ya..
But debugger that is debugging applications wont debug kernel at all.
For debugging kernel, one has to apply patch or has to use modules meant for debugging the kernel.
