Did a linux update and now have probs
Hi I use linux redhat 7.2 and last night i did and update agent to get the latest stuff. After that I could not boot my server and received the errors "init:id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes" i get this error 7 times and it goes in a continuous loop cant resolve the problem. I just got my redhat 9 cd's this weekend. i tried to upgrade the software but still have the same error.
Any help would be appreciated..... |
Well, RPM upgrades are risky, especially with older software.
I suggest you backup your data (boot into some sort of recovery disc), and do a fresh install of Redhat 9. But do you remember what software was updated? If your RH7 disc can do this, try booting into your partition from the disc. Im not sure if it can though. |
I researched some of the replies and in looking at my inittab the entries:
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1 2 3 4 5 6 and x:5:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty6 are causing the problem....any help |
