dial up connection/modem

hi.

i didnt know if i should put thin in software or hardware but anyway, i have just installed redhat 9.0 and i am tryign to set up a dial up internet connection. i know hardly anything about linux and i cant set up my modem, i have a standard external modem and a USB modem. the standard one is a bit dodgy so i want to use the usb one. when linux tries to autodetect the modem it cant find one but had a list of about 20 devices e.g. /dev/M1. is there an easy way to set up my connection or do i have to do osmething special to get the usb modem to work?

Start up KPPP in kde, and if it autodetects your modem, then you don't have to worry. Else... well just try this and post back if this does not work.
