/dev/ht0 is writing output to /var/spool/mail/root

When I run a backup using /dev/ht0 it is sending an output of everything it is backing up to the /var/spool/mail/root mail account. I have searched Google over and over again and cannot find out any information on how messages from devices get sent to root. I'm using a RH 7.2 system. I looked at syslogd.conf and nothing. I dug around in the logwatcher files and cannot seem to find out where or why it is getting written there. Any help would be great. A starting point to look, maybe some log files.

Thanks
