/dev/cdrom messing up my LVM

Hi,

I installed my computer from CD to hda. After that I removed the CD from the system and added 3 more IDE disks.

The problem I'm having now is that there seems to be leftovers from the cdrom in the system that I don't know how to get rid of.

When I open the partition manager they show up as hda,b,c & d and everything looks ok. If I do a lvmdiskscan I get the following:
Code:
# lvmdiskscan
  /dev/ram0 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/md0 [ 16,95 GB]
  /dev/ram1 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/root [ 9,76 GB]
  /dev/cdrom [ 19,07 GB]
  /dev/ram2 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram3 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram4 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram5 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/hda5 [ 1,16 GB]
  /dev/ram6 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/hda6 [ 8,07 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/ram7 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram8 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram9 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram10 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram11 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram12 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram13 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram14 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram15 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/sdb1 [ 34,18 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/hdb1 [ 18,65 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/sde1 [ 34,18 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/hdd1 [ 19,12 GB] LVM physical volume
  2 disks
  18 partitions
0 LVM physical volume whole disks
  5 LVM physical volumes
Notice that hdc1 is missing even though it should be there!

I then do [I]pvcreate /dev/hdc1[I] telling me:
Code:
# pvcreate /dev/hdc1
  Physical volume "/dev/hdc1" successfully created
But end up with this from lvmdiskscan:
Code:
# lvmdiskscan
  /dev/ram0 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/md0 [ 16,95 GB]
  /dev/ram1 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/root [ 9,76 GB]
  /dev/cdrom [ 19,07 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/ram2 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram3 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram4 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram5 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/hda5 [ 1,16 GB]
  /dev/ram6 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/hda6 [ 8,07 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/ram7 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram8 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram9 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram10 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram11 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram12 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram13 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram14 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/ram15 [ 31,25 MB]
  /dev/sdb1 [ 34,18 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/hdb1 [ 18,65 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/sde1 [ 34,18 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/hdd1 [ 19,12 GB] LVM physical volume
  1 disk
  18 partitions
1 LVM physical volume whole disk
  5 LVM physical volumes
Notice that hdc1 is still missing but /dev/cdrom has been set as a LVM device! The only thing I can think of is that Mandriva mixes up the previous cdrom and hdc1? How can i fix it?

/dev/cdrom should be just a link to /dev/hdc which was automatically created when you installed Mandriva. The following command will display the link:
ls -l /dev/cdrom

You can safely delete /dev/cdrom. I'm not sure why hdc1 is missing.
