Details about default web Browser & default Email client

Hi all,
I'm using Linux Redhat 9. i need the details about the default web browser & E-mail client . Mozilla is default one i know. But suppose i download the Netscape and install it. Now i want to set the netscape as a default one, what i do for in that one. Then can i get the default browser details using any shell command or where these details are stored (under which directory and file). Any way is there for getting theses details? :Pengy:

IF you are using KDE:

Within Konqueror select

Settings

Configure Konqueror

File Associations

Text

HTML

Move your prefered browser to the top.

What about for gnome? I installed Firefox but had some trouble with it and removed it. But I had let it be my default browser and now Firefox is gone and I clicking on links in Evolution don't know to use Mozilla again.

Thanks,

same question here

I found on redhat that you can go to Applications-->Preferences-->MorePreferneces and then select 'Preferred applications' but this doesn't seem to work in all cases. if say I install mozilla to /home/browsers/mozilla1_7_13 and I create a customg browser launch of

/home/browsers/mozilla1_7_13/mozilla %s

this doesn't seem to work I get errors about mozilla pulling files in from other places. would be nice if linux could solve this as good as Windows XP does....
