desktop windows are transparent

I've just installed red hat 7.2. The pc (500Mhz AMD) uses CTX 1569 monitor. When I open a window it is transparent - if I open another window that is also transparent and if I try to scroll text then the text compresses in the end of the document.

I'm new to linux - how do I fix this?

sorted

I reduced the display setting to 16 bit and it now works fine. So display driver settings were wrong.

I think I should tell you nothing was wrong. Transparant windows is usually a nice feature, but apparently you didn't like it? Or was it something else?

32 bit windows can become transparent, i think theres a way to disable this tho, 32 bit mode doesn't relay get used in windows (actually 32 bit more is just 24 bit color with 8 bits for anything else, usually used to say how much transparency a window gets)

Red Hat 7.2 did not supported transparent windows... if I remember correctly, unless you had installed some of the new Xservers (from freedesktop.org or X.org)
