Desktop/Window Managers

Hello to all you wonderful Linux lovers. Just wondering a little about desktop managers. Wishing to get an opinion on which one you prefer and why? What are the advantages?

Personally I like Blackbox, although I've heard Fluxbox > Blackbox but I'm happy with the way I have Blackbox set up. I like it because it's quick, stable, and uses hardly any resources including no icons. I hate icons!!! I like it because it's very customizable although. I also don't mind KDE because it's similar to Windows and easy to get around to doing what you need to do. But I like the look of blackbox over KDE and why would I want something similar to Windows anyway?

I've very, very tired and was bored so I'm gonna' stop rambling and let the batlle begin!

I tried KDE, Gnome and xfce.

KDE worked OK only it's a bit slow compared to gnome. I couldn't find a way to get some options out of the gnome menu (no I don't want games or html editors other than a text editor for example) so it's either not possible or not obvious. I don't like xfce. Now I'm back to KDE but if it's possible to change the gnome menu I'll definitely go back unless I get KDE to run better. Gnome was faster and I liked it more than KDE, probably cause it hasn't huge icons and taskbar.

I use KDE most of the time and IceWM sometimes. i like the feel of LiteStep and the default LS theme is based on IceWM

I don't care too much for KDE or GNOME. Too bloated. I have better things for my cpu cycles and memory ;)

At this very moment ;) I'm using IceWM. I like the fact that you can make a double-size taskbar which includes shortcuts to applications, cpu and net monitors, a box to type in a command line to launch apps, among other things.

I also like fluxbox, WindowMaker, fvwm, xfce, ... There are so many good choices, it's best to try them all!

:)

Fluxbox 0.9.9 (devel version) is fantastic - supports lovely pixmapped taskbar and window titles, as well as transparent menus. I'll get a pic...

Screenshot looks intriguing. But there are too many to try and I'm happy with what I have.
