desktop or workstation
I am getting a replacement hard drive soon, so I need to reinstall Redhat 9. What kinds of things does the workstation include that the personal desktop does not? Does the workstation come with Gnome also?

I plan to try a different distribution of linux in the future. Will I be able to use my swap partition that was created for redhat?

Other than leaving free space for the future distributions, are their any other considerstions I need to make before partitioning?

- well it will contain servers... apache, sshd, ftp etc... configured to work externally out of the box (well, that's the theory at least)

not really... well there's a thousand and one things that come into the equation, but to star with as long as you have some unpartitioned space on the drive big enough you've no reason to worry.

The swap will be used by other distro.

If you have a way to backup your /home directory tree, you can restore it to your new hard drive, thereby saving your user settings for programs, bookmarks, addressbook, etc.

Sorry, I don't know which packages Redhat includes in Desktop and Workstation options.
