Desktop items disappeared after installing face recognition software

Installed face-recognition software for login from http://www.noobslab.com/2011/06/faci...on-ubuntu.html . I trained the qT trainer. and restarted the PC. But then all desktop items disappeared and i think the theme also changed. Many items in the system settings were gone. I could not open computer/places. The home folder is also not working.
Then i uninstalled as it said in the link.

sudo rm /usr/share/pam-configs/face-authentication

this command showed an error.
Now i cannot open the home folder. Plz help
I am noob in linux.

I don't know anything about face recognition, but to me it seems that you're logging into a different user, probably a new one, with its own desktop items (currently empty). Or at least on a different desktop environment (gnome, kde, openbox). Openbox normally does not show any destop item, even though they're there.

What error message was that when you tried to delete this folder?

How is the login screen now, is it how it used to be before?
