Desktop hierarchy filesystem: I WANT TO CHANGE IT!!

my user's desktop location after migrating from gnome to kde:

home/user/.gnome-desktop

I installed rh9 with kde on my brother's machine over the weekend...

His desktop location:

home/user/Desktop

How can I make it so that my desktop is where his desktop is, without screwing it all up?

I suspect that I may have to create a new user.

Probably the easiest way would be to leave it where it is, and create a symlink to where you want to see it. Something like: ln -s /home/<user>/.gnome-desktop /home/<user>/Desktop, replacing the <user> with the user's name. See 'man ln' for more info.
