.desktop files open with kwrite

I started up my computer today, and tried to click on a folder on the desktop.

It opened up in kwrite, telling me that this was a folder....

I use Mandrake10.0, KDE, and konqueror...
All the files work but the folders and mount points (HDD)
The home button works, too
When I try to open a folder in konqueror, it opens the folder normally...

Does anyone know why this happened?

not sure why this happens unless somehow the *.desktop file type changed to open in an application.

right-click on any *.desktop file and choose Edit File Type. Look to see that there are no applications in the Application Preferences box.

you might also want to check the Embedding tag and see that there aren't any Service Preferences. Also, in the Embedding tag, my left click action is set for Use settings for 'application' group.

this is all coming from what i see in my file type configuration for *.desktop files in kde.

Just for refrence, I had tried that and none worked

Restarting the computer seemed to fix the problem, not sure why though
