Hey guys. This is really wierd problem. It appears that KDE and Gnome have collided for me. I use KDE for the most part, haven't used Gnome in quite some time. But now, all of a sudden, when I go to a certain desktop (it's random, sometimes its 3 and sometimes its 4) it shows the background as Gnome but my KDE taskbar remains the same.

If you have used Nautilus, it will draw the desktop from Gnome as well as opening the file manager. Nautilus always does this, it is a pain in the arse.
Hrmm... I don't it's that considering I don't know what Nautilus is.
It started when I right-clicked on the panel and try to add aRts Control. Then everything locked up and I had to reboot manually. Everything is fine except for 1 desktop is Gnome while the rest is KDE. I tried rebooting and selecting KDE instead of Last for the session selector but that didn't work.

Nautilus is the Gnome File Manager.
All I can think of is that there is a stray Nautilus process running somewhere. Try "ps aux | grep nautilus" to see, and then kill it. Perhaps it is being started when KDE starts for some reason???
The reason I have suggested this, is that this is the only reason I have come across for whey Gnome would hijack your KDE desktop. If anyone else has any ideas...
