Deneba Canvas on Red Hat 8 install problems

I downloaded and installed Deneba Canvas 7 for Linux, canvas-7.0b4.0-1.i386.rpm

Installed as usual, this is what happened when I tried running it.

[root@localhost canvas7]# ./canvas7
./cv7: relocation error: ./cv7: symbol _dl_global_scope, version
GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file with link time reference

Can this be fixed?

This sounds like you're trying to use a package compiled for an older distribution. If possible, use an rpm compiled against red hat 8. If you can manage, try rebuilding the source rpm, or encourage the vendor to build it against a more modern system.

Hope that helped a little

exactly correct...

This was intended for a much earlier RH distro. I'll see if I can find a source version. Thanks.

I'm looking for a draw type graphics application comparable to Corel Draw on Windows, I've heard that there was a Corel Draw for Linux but that it sucked... making Canvas work seems to be the best bet unless I do find a good Linux draw app, preferably one that'll read .CDR files. I've downloaded several draw apps and so far, seen nothing that appears worth the learning curve.

Gimp is cool, but it's raster, not a vector too.

I'd like to see suggestions with respect to a good midrange/high-end draw app from any graphics professional.
