demuxer plugin error
I tried to play .mpg file on Totem Movie player and got this error
An error occured The playback of this movie requires MPEG-1 System stream demuxer plugin which is not installed
What shall I do? |
Do you have Lame installed? You will need this to read mp3s (I presume it's an mp3 file and not mpg file?)Also, I don't find Totem very useful. Amarok is very nice, and VLC comes with most of the codecs you'll ever need.

Ah, sorry, didn't read your post properly. It's an MPEG file. That'll need the Win32 package. Again, I find Totem variable: sometimes it feels like reading, sometimes it doesn't. Try using Xine, or Mlayer maybe. I don't usually have trouble reading MPEG, streamed or not: Xine will normally work.

I have installed VLC player, but don't know how to make it default player. And I want to uninstall Totem Player.
|
Uninstall Totem the usual way. What system do you use? If it's a Debian based one, you simply run Synaptic, search for Totem and choose uninstall. As for making VLC your default player, have you right clicked on an audio link and, instead of choosing VLC from the media links that appear, clicked on "open with". Then you choose VLC. The reason for doing this is that you get a box that says something like "always use this application for this type of file" that doesn't appear otherwise. You'll have to do it for each type of file, though. Eg, you do it for mp3, then you'll have to do the process again for WAV etc.
