Default mail user agent

How can I determine the active (default) mail user agent on a system? Alternatively, how can I construct the list of installed MUA?

I'm afraid there is no such thing. All tools/categories handled
by update-alternatives are listed in /var/lib/dpkg/alternatives
and I can't see an MUA there.

Cheers,
