Debugging Tools scripts in Kate?

If you have a script that works sometimes and doesn't work other times in Kate and there just might be error outputs that kate isn't passing around in any obvious manner, how would one know how to find out what's going wrong?

I'm talking about the user-made scripts under Tools/External Tools. When you run those scripts and an error happens, I don't see any error output.

I'm guessing this is related to the sort of scripts you're mentioning in this other thread?

Perhaps you've already tried this, but are you starting `kate` from command line, or from a menu button or launcher? Try from a command line of you're not. With any luck, and/all output from kate, including errors, will be shown on the terminal.
Also, check kate manpage or online documentation and see if it has any --debug or --verbose or similar option that will make it give more feedback when it runs.

P.S. - Out of curiosity: I thought kate is part of KDE, isn't it? I *should* have it installed here somewhere... Hmm..

Yes, Kate is a part of KDE.

It is related to that. I've tried those above solutions. I've not even found documentation that shows how to investigate kate script errors. I can't find a means to put it in debug mode, either.

For some reason kate does not return any output when processing a command. I discovered this when I put in a syntax error in a script, and did not see why it went wrong until I eyeballed it.

This could be highly annoying. If there's no solutions, would this be a bug?
