Debian Squeeze - Can't install wine.

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Wine on Debian Squeeze x86_64 but I cannot seem to get it to work. I added the repository to my sources.list but I was faced with this when I tried to install:

Hi,

Have you installed the ia32-libs package, necessary to have 32bit libraries on your 64bit system?

What is the output of cat /etc/apt/sources.list and cat /etc/debian_version.

I thought I had, but just to double check I did the following:

Is that anything meaningful? I had the same trouble when I (unsuccessfully) tried to get Skype working a while ago. I think I may have broken something but I'm not competent enough to determine what exactly.

It's in testing

http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/lib32stdc++6

They're in testing.
How you put it in without changing everything I don't know.

How you put it in without changing everything I don't know.

You have to edit /etc/sources.list to include testing.
Only thing is when you change apt/sources.list, you will have apt-update.
There may be a lot of changes.

Which entry do I change to testing? Could I use backports?

Does this mean that when Squeeze goes to stable, I move to the new testing release? Or am I only installing packages that aren't in the Squeeze repo?

before you edit apt/sources do an update and see what happens, because I have debian squeeze and it shows the packages available on my comp. either "sudo aptitude update" or aptitude update"
Also make sure updates are turned on.

I installed some updates this morning, I did it again just now but none are available.

About doing updates, yes I did. I did that with my original sources.list though. Is that not what you wanted me to do?
