Debian apt-get problem

Hi all,
Something somehow got frigged up on our system and I can no longer install packages via apt. No matter what I try to install apt says it needs the follwoing two packages:
tetex-base tetex-bin

It then reports that something is wrong with tetex-bin and the install aborts.
Here is the whole transaction of installing Firefox:
Code:
gcnpd:/var# apt-get install firefox
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package firefox
gcnpd:/var# apt-get install mozilla-firefox
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libatk1.0-0 libatk1.0-dev libglib2.0-0 libglib2.0-dev libgtk2.0-0 libgtk2.0-bin libgtk2.0-common libgtk2.0-dev libpango1.0-0
  libpango1.0-common libpango1.0-dev libtiff4 libxcursor1 tetex-base tetex-bin

  gs-aladdin
Recommended packages:

2 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0B/37.7MB of archives.
After unpacking 88.8MB of additional disk space will be used.

reinstall it before attempting a removal.

 tetex-bin

I've tried revoing it via apt and manually. Still nothing.

Any thoughts?
