Debian and Photoshop

Hello,

I've installed Adobe Photoshop 7.0 under my debian box. (thanks wine...) Everything works fine. But I'm unable to use the "save for the web" menu. 'Save' works, 'Save as' too, but save for the web doesn't do anything.

Does anyone got an idea? Should I install something?

Does anyone succeed to install Photoshop CS? if yes, how?!

Thanks,

With a program as large and complex as Photoshop, you may have some problems running it in Wine. I've not used it, but I'd suspect that the "Save for the web" menu option calls upon some DLL or other that Wine hasn't fully implemented yet.

If you haven't already, though, you should try out GIMP. It can do many of the things that Photoshop can do (including read/write Photoshop .PSD files). The GIMP interface has improved tremendously in just the past year, so if you haven't tried it recently, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I've tried gimp many times, but I always think that Photoshop is better.

And Gimp doesn't read psd so good... with a psd of 400 ko, ok, but when it's a 1.x mo psd, Gimp is unable to read it... perhaps it exists a plugin to read better the psd?

Hmm, that is odd. I have never had problems reading PSDs from the GIMP. I was editing a 40MB one yesterday, in fact. Though, to be fair, they are from Photoshop 3.0 (don't know if there's a difference with later versions).
