Debian 6 - Gnome starts but mouse, keyboard are totally ignored

Hello,

I'm running Debian 6 with Gnome in a VM. Gnome wouldn't start because the entire partition got filled up. First thing I did was enlarge the partition size but it still wouldn't run. I booted into the CLI and removed a lot of unnecessary files and now Gnome will run but it accepts absolutely no input. No keyboard shortcuts work and the mouse pointer doesn't even appear. Bash works fine if I boot into CLI but I can't get Gnome to work at all.

Any clues as to where I should start digging first?

Thank you

Hi,

start by looking at the X log file. Ie
Code:
less /var/log/Xorg.0.log
You may also find useful output in ~/.xsession-errors or /var/log/user.log

Evo2.

PS. Debian 6 is now "old stable" and support is expected to be dropped on May 4th of this year (1 year after the release of Debian 7), so it is time to think about upgrading.

Thanks

Sorry for being so late in replying. I'll check log files. Obvious, really. Sorry for not doing this before posting.
