Question ddclient updating from router

Hey,

I have installed ddclient and have it running on Fedora 8. I have a bufallo tech wireless router. I know that ddclient is running, however, it does not correctly poll the router and update my zoneedit account.

I believe that the problem is getting ddclient to access the router. I have the necessary information to login to the router.

ddclient.conf:
daemon=300 # check every 300 seconds
syslog=yes # log update msgs to syslog
mail=root # mail all msgs to root
mail-failure=root # mail failed update msgs to root
pid=/var/run/ddclient/ddclient.pid # record PID in file.
ssl=yes # use ssl-support. Works with
# ssl-library
#
use=BuffaloAirStation, fw=192.168.11.1:80 # via buffalotech

fw-login=loginName, fw-password=LoginPassword # FW login and password
#
## To obtain an IP address from FW status page (using fw-login, fw-password)
use=fw, fw=192.168.11.1/cgi-bin/cgi?reg=th&tag=sysinfo, fw-skip='IP Address' # found after IP Address
#

Zoneedit setup
## ZoneEdit (zoneedit.com)
##
server=www.zoneedit.com, \
protocol=zoneedit1, \
login=LoginInfo to Zoneedit, \
password=Password for Zoneedit \
domain1,domain2

Sure could use so help. Cannot figure out how to talk correctly with router and get the new ipaddress sent to zoneedit.

Thanks,
Jack

When I had a similiar problem (with a different router brand), I switched to
Code:
use=web
until I could fix it.
It worked so well, that I never bothered changing it back.

...just a suggestion...

p.s. I assume you are using your real username and password, not loginName and LoginPassword. I also think you need to single quote your password(s)

Lightbulb Problem with use=web

My problem with use web was that it posted 127.0.0.1 on my service and not the correct ipaddress. it did update the provider, but the wrong address.

Can you give me more specifics on setting it up with web?

thanks,
Jack
