DCOP problem

I have found a few threads on here that talk about DCOP server problems, but none of the solutions worked.
I have got kdm and it works fine for root, but if I try it with another user, it says that I should "please check that the program dcopserver is running". I have done it with brand new users, and deleted anything in the /tmp directory beforehand, but still it doesn't work. Does anyone have any hints?
