dcom98.exe and wine-dbg

i installed WINE, set up my fake drives, then installed Office97 per instructions at <--excellent site, then I wanted to try installing a game <--maybe a bad move. Well i read that you need to install dcom98.exe to install certain games so I installed it and now winword.exe and excel.exe, etc return an error 'BAD WINDOW'. Any ideas?

Also, sometimes i see this in the terminal window:

i am guessing it is a debug prompt??, then when i try to type exit or close the window, i get a blast of this all over the terminal window. What might that be?

thanks in advance
