Good Day guys, I installed a web content filtering software. I came across dansguardian. downloaded it and installed it on my RedHat 9.

everything went well on the installation, i reboot the system then setup the proper ports for listening, squids port is 3128 and dansguardian port is 8080. i tried the proxy on one of my workstations but it did not work every time i setup the proxy setting on the client workstation directed to port 8080 of dansguardian it won't connect on the net but when i switch it to port 3128 its connecting but it wont filter websites.

i dont know what to do for now... Help? please!

i checked the services squid and dansguardian are both running, though i noticed that the status of Dansguardian indicates:

No DansGuardian process found.

To my knowledge (been messing around with the same stuff for a week or so now) when you are told that there are no dansguardian process found it means that dansguardian is not running. To verify this do a "ps aux | grep dansguardian" if this shows only the grep dansguardian response then dansguardian is not running. To start dansguardian, simply type "dansguardian" - if you are looking in your services (using gu) just because something is checked doesn't mean that it is running. If dansguardian doesn't start then you must check the config files to see if something is setup wrong.
