You just want to use the modem with a Centos system?

You don't actually "install" a modem- you can navigate to the modem's setup page via a browser- which for D-Link is 192.168.0.1

Hook your system into one of the ports on the router (1-x, not the Internet port)- then navigate to the router's IP address. Once there, you may need to login: the default login::

From there, configure it as you like. Plug the router into a modem (Internet port), power cycle both the modem and router and you should be squared away.
