Cyber Cafe Timer
Hi all,
Am fishing around for a really good Linux based timer to help in billing users on Linux clients where the timer server is also to be on Linux. I want to have a Linux only Cyber Cafe setup. Any best application around which is preferably open source. Thanks in advance. |
Well, I'd recommend looking at these 2 projects: www.ltsp.org, www.k12ltsp.org
|
I am also looking for a timer which i can use to manage my Linux machines in my cyber cafe, but what am getting from the sites given by chrism01 is not of much help. Is there anybody else with an alternative? But i have appreciated much, i hav learned something abt LTSP.

Try this
Code:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Cafebuntu |
control de ciber
this is a nice software which you can install to manage your cyber cafe.. you can install the software in the server with wine and the clients can be installed just in linux.... it is good but i guess that it is only in spanish currently i use it with xp but i am thinking about changing it all to ubuntu.. and still keep using the same program check it "http://www.cbm.com.ar/downloads.htm"

I was looking around for software and applications for E cafe and schools, well I came to the same thing there are not that many and some are not that elegant, but this were elegant and well define work well.
One is the one for N computingg with the X series the X300, X350, X550, this works with Ubuntu and in use with CBM ,HTTPP://www.cbm.com.ar/downloads.htm LTSP or http://openkiosk.sourceforge.net/ , but here is one that is to order not only for cyber cafe but schools and the home and business that want to make a simple expansion with monitoring of the constant on a Linux base PC . http://www2.userful.com/ this one is a way of not only saving energy and the cost maintenance and management. You install Ubuntu, or any Debian base OS, and a few add ons and you are ready to go. install the CD attach the USB connection, connect monitor and you just expand your PC to 2 terminals, it has a web management system. you can use it like in schools, home or work, it is economical and most of all easy to use and maintain. |

Re: linux cyber cafe software please keep us all informed that are interested in internet cafe software. i have just installed Zencafe which I found on the linux distro list at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._distributions but haven't had time to see if its based at the client user, or has any useful management control features such as client timers. Also the free home edition of SME 7 server from http://www.contribs.org looks interesting cheers |
