cvs diff the most current and second last current version

Is there a way to do a cvs diff between the most current and second last current version of a file without specifying a version number?

i.e. Assume the most current version is N.
How to do a diff between N and (N - 1)?

This does not work:
# cvs diff -r LATEST file
# cvs [diff aborted]: no such tag LATEST

Not as far as I know. The keyword HEAD is used to mean the latest version of a file because it refers to the main branch and when a branch is checked out by branch name, you get the last version on the branch. But there isn't a way to refer to versions relatively.
