Well depends on what type of backup you want performed.. how big it is.. etc. Are you referring to the physical backup of your cvs repository or using cvs to recover files? What type of media were you planning on using to backup, tapes, hard drives, cdr media.. ?

hi trickykid

i'm talking about backing up the repository for recovery at a later stage in case of respository crashes through CVS .
Backup device could be any media...it could even be a personal workspace

thank you

Ok, so what are we dealing with then? Is this for a company or your own use? You plan to use commercial software like Tivoli or Netbackup or free opensource software? Plan to use Tapes or Drives, CDR media? Your lack of details don't help us much as there are just way to many ways to perform backups on a system..

hello trickykid

actually i want it for my personal use........i do not want to involve any third party software for this...Doesn't CVS has any inbuilt command through which it creates a backup of the whole repository at a point of time.....

i am interested in the functionality provided by the CVS software itself(only open source)...do not want to use any third party tools for it......

Basically I am testing the features of the software..

thank you
