customizing link behaviour in konqueror

When I click on a link to a file in konqueror, say a .wmv file, it will first download the file then open it with xine (or whatever media player you're using). Is it possible to configure konqueror such that when i click on a .wmv file, it performs "xine %link to file%" so that the .wmv file can be streamed directly instead of being downloaded first?

Yes. Go into kcontrol (control center). Click on KDE components -> File Associations -> video -> x-ms-wmv. In the Application Preference Order delete xine if it is there. Click on Add. Type the complete command that you want to use in the pop up window. Click on OK. Move xine to the top of the preference list if necessary. Click on Apply.
