I'd like to know whether it's possible to configure X server in a manner it will use
provided by me lookup tables for red, green, blue colors.
So far I've read (and am using) per color gamma correction, but it's not sufficient.
I'd like to have a possibility to specify custom translation tables, something like
Input_R Output_R
0 0
1 2
2 3
3 3
4 4
..................
255 255
and in the same manner for other colors.
Experts are familiar with separate color curves in 'xv', GIMP, etc., so I want
a mechanism to implement these color curves in X configuration file or through
some existing command line utility.
Is there such an option in the configuration file or and/or command line utility implementing
the functionality of interest ?
maybe its not what you need then, but colormaps are used in programs, so a programing Manuel for X is probably where to look ....... but i don't think theres a program to force color translation across windows .....
hmm, actually, with the extensions that let X have true transparent windows (using a composite manager to alter the on screen contents of windows), you could write a program that changes the colors, like that color curve stuff ....... but why cant use change your monitor settings?

I would like to change my monitor settings because they are not good enough -
after playing witrh HW controls (contrast, brightness, per color level) and with per
color gamma.
So, I simply want custom colormap == custom translation tables to tune my monitor
properly.
