currently os homebuild refuses to install 16.04 or 18.04 ubuntu.
Dont know how to post pictures but even with secure boot off, my asrock motherboard custom pc refuses to boot live or installable ubuntu 18.04 after grub. When clicking either i am presented with text in the corner of the screen and it being frozen. 16.04 gave same error. How do i os my pc? Motherboard is z390 taichi ultimate.
This pc never had an os before trying to install now nor will it be duel boot.
CD/dvd or or USB ? Whaddya mean "afer grub" ? Grub is installed with the OS. Select/format entire disc and install. At the last step it asks to install grub. Install to MBR and be done with it
Well usb stick created with startup disk i used. By grub i guess prompt is the proper term. The menu where you choose "try without installing" or "install ubuntu" both give me the result of on the corner of the screen text which is frozen there. So i cannot even get to this screen, let alone a purple background.
Can you post a photo of the screen and any messages it displays?
It this machine EFI or BIOS?
Is boot from external media enabled in the BIOS/EFI?
This is a shot in the dark, but I have an EFI machine and, when I want to boot from optical media, I need to go into the EFI itself and find the boot manager and select the boot device. I have no idea whether that behavior is unique to that machine, but I do think you need to take a look at the EFI/BIOS settings.
