Cups problem

My CUPS installation seems to be hosed. It mostly works, until I try to do something destructive like delete a printer. I needed to delete this printer and reinstall it. Well it asks for my user and password. I entered my sudo user and password and it is rejected.

So I found something that says I can add a valid user and password with: sudo lppasswd -a admin

I added a user/password combination, but still it isn't accepted. I even tried stopping and restarting cups.

Any suggestions.

Oh yes someone is bound to ask Linux-Mint 17-64 on an i5.
Cups Ver: 1.7.2
