CUPS prints only small landscape format

Hi all,
I'm going nuts trying to get printing to work properly.
My setup:
Wireless network with 1 IBM laptop running Slackware 10.0, 1 Dell Desktop running Slack 10.1
Epson Stylus Photo CX4600
IO gear wireless print server

Everything works fine when printing from the laptop. When I try to print from the desktop I get strange things. OpenOffice documents won't print at all (the CUPS interface says they are all getting aborted). If I print them to a .ps file and then convert to pdf, when I print them they all get printed in the wrong orientation (landscape -- they should be regular text-file portrait) and shrunk down to fit. I've been through the cups configurations on both machines and they seem to be identical. I can print from apps like kwrite just fine.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I might look for clues?

Thanks,
-geomatt

Fixed it!
After tons of fiddling and poring over config files I just decided to try deleting the printer from the CUPS administration utility and then adding it once again with a different name. I don't know whether the name was the problem (it's got the same name on the other CUPS server running on the laptop) or whether some screws fell out when Open Office was installed. But now I can print from all apps.
