Cups Documentation

i'm using CUPS as printing system, it works perfectly well, however, I would like to change some setting, like giving my printers several name, changing the queue folder, etc etc...

However the $%&*%&$ CUPS documentation is a real labyrinth, I can't find what I'm looking for on the cups site and man files lack several important information.
So far I know that cups generate a /etc/printcap files at start (so change in it will be lost) with his config files in /etc/cups.
As example, if I want to add a name to my printers, I suppose I have to add something to /etc/cups/printers.conf. But add what? I really don't know I have tried several things but can't find what and cups documentation lack several information about that file.

Is someone know a good manual about cups and it's config, if possible not writed by the same people who has made cups?
