Cups command line printing with correct paper size

Hi everyone!

I am very desperated with my attempts to get cups working right fo me.

I have an old HP Photosmart 420 printer, which I want to use with my photo booth (It should replace a Canon Selphie printer).

I use a raspberry pi 3 with the most recent system and updated software.
I installed cups, hplips and got the printer running. Now I want to print pictures on photo paper with 100x150mm.

When I use the lp command to print, the printer default settings are ignored and the picture is cropped and uses only 3/4 of the paper.
I think I read every part of the documentation and tried every setting, like lp -d Printer -o PaperSize=Custom.100x150mm image.jpg.
No matter which setting I use, there are only two different outputs of the picture: like said above or the picture has the size of a stamp.

But, when I use GIMP to print, the picture has the right scale and the paper size seem to be correct (ok, borderless printing doesn't work, but this would be OK for me)

Maybe anyone had the same issues and a solution for my problem?
Thanks everyone for every hint!

Greetings

What's in /etc/papersize ?

Hi!

The paperconf says a4, but changing the default value doesn't change the print output.
I also tried every setting of the ppd file, but the printer gracefully ignores them.
I ran out of ideas to get this printer to work. In worst case, I could use it as paper weight.

The lp command has this option per man page:

-o media=size
Sets the page size to size. Most printers support at least the size names "a4", "letter", and "legal".

Did you try that?

Hi!

Yes, I tried every configuration combination. i also used every unit system for the size information. Now I am at the point to give up and sell the printer.
I wanted to replace the selphie because it uses expensive cartridges and the Photosmart normal ink.

Did you see anything from the logs? Both on access and error logs
