CUPS and USB

I have a newly install Debian 3.1 distro, I used apt-get to install CUPS, and then added my printers, all was well until I decided to uninstall CUPS and install a newer CUPS from souce. Everything went well but when I'm in the web interface for CUPS it does not have the option for USB. I can't figure why either.

I'm thinking that either I missed a config option or I need to install something else.
