Ctrl+space couldn't activate scim

Dear friends,

I am using fc6 and have installed scim.
In terminal, i can start scim by typing scim in terminal with the following respond:
# scim
Smart Common Input Method 1.4.4

Launching a SCIM daemon with Socket FrontEnd...
Loading simple Config module ...
Creating backend ...
Loading socket FrontEnd module ...
Starting SCIM as daemon ...
Launching a SCIM process with x11...
Loading socket Config module ...

Loading x11 FrontEnd module ...
GTK Panel of SCIM 1.4.4

Starting SCIM ...

On the right hand bottom corner, it appears a grey scim icon which gives me the following options:
SCIM Setup
Reload configuration
Stick Windows
Hide toolbars
Help

The next thing i thought i am supposed to do is simply clicked Ctrl+space that would activate scim at the bottom panel, however it ain't so. I tried CTrl+space many times the proper panel for SCIM input simply didnt appear....

Is there anything which i did wrongly that might have caused the problem? I followed this site when i tried to startup scim:

should work..but not for me...anyone face similar problem before? i think i miss out something stupid....but i cannto figure out...i alerady followed step by step...please help me if you know..thanks a lot for taking time helping...

Regards
Y
