Crossover office

I bought crossover office and I like it so far. Is there a way to tweak it to get more out of it? Maybe copying dll files from a windows computer or some mod to increase it's compatibilty? Has anyone tryed to play with this program?

What version do you have, 5.0 or 5.0.1? Did you get Pro or Standard?

There is a crossover mailing list where you can get more help...

but I find it runs what I want out of the box...

Me, if all I needed was Office, I would go ahead and use OpenOffice. ...though, like you, I want to be able to run Unreal Tournament or Half Life with it.

I run OOo2 and just use crossover for a couple of other little apps I need (dog related). I run MSO on really rare ocassions to open docs that OOo2 won't handle, but not many of those these days.

I run games with cedega, but it would be nice to just have the one WINE apps that does all...

For a long time I ran wine, crossover, cedaga (winex), and win4lin. But win4lin is gone and wine is not really needed with crossover installed... So down to 2 systems for running win apps...

with cedega, can I buy it once or is a constant subscription manditory?
Also I was hoping that there were some hacks that would increce compatibiltiy in either program. My goal is to get rid of my windows hard drive and use linux only.

Cedega you just have to pay the $15 and you can download the latest version for 3 months and that version will run permanently after that. No time limit on any cedega version I've run... Or crossover for that matter... Only the demo crossover has that AFAIK.

Will Cedega run anything other than games? Crossover office runs some other stuff than the aproved programs but without directx and other plugin support. I have a replayradio program that I hope I can find a way to get to run under linux.

Both UT99 and UT2004 have linux installers - you don't need to use Crossover, Wine, Cedega or any other emulator

For UT2004 look on dvd for linux-installer.sh, for UT99 you want the Loki installer:

ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/lokig...l-436-GOTY.run

Compatibility with what? If you really want to run Wintendo inside of Linux, then I'd highly suggest buying VMWare and setting that up.

If you want a few apps then CXOffice will do it.

In particular, what apps were you looking for?

VMWare Player is freeware but you cannot creat any virtual machines with it.

On my windows machine, I set my replayradio program to record live internet streaming audio. It works on a timer and records an audio stream from 8 til 11 each week day. It then adds the audio to my itunes library where I transfer it to my ipod. Can this process be duplicated on linux? I haven't been able to find any applications do this that run nativly on linux so I thought I'd try wine.

I have tried crossover office but the replayradio program will boot but not operate. I was hoping there was a simular program that could do this. Sence Cedega has dirrectx support, i though it might also be able to start replayradio and windows media player 9 or 10.
