crossover and acrobat reader problem

Hello everybody,

I have crossover 2.0.1 (I desperately need Microsoft Acces) installed and working smoothly.
Yesterday I installed Acrobat reader 5.0 but when I tried to run it, a few seconds after the splash screen is shown it crashes with no erro message.....
Any idea what could be wrong?
I run Slackware 9.1.

i hope your not trying to get reader working with crossover ..
cause you can download it for linux here
there is a dropdown list to choose platform, and you will select linux (of course), and then download it

I already know this, but I need Acrobat reader with crossover for two reasons:
1) I need to open pdf files from inside Microsoft Acces
2) Acrobat Reader 5.0.8 for Linux doesn't support the scroll key...

Below is a link to where the CrossoverOffice web page mentions what it took for one user to get Adobe Acrobat 5 working:

http://www.codeweavers.com/site/prod...ed_apps/?id=46

I use CrossoverOffice but have never tried to install Adobe Acrobat 5 under Linux. However, I do use CrossoverOffice under Red Hat 9 to run Word 97, Excel 97, Powerpoint 97, Adobe Photoshop 7.0, WinZip 8.1, PrivyPad and fsum. I assume that you must be using Access 2000 because Codeweavers claims it is the only version that is supported under CrossoverOffice.

I had thought about possibly installing Access 2000 under Linux but have been teaching myself to use PHP and MySQL instead. The only thing that makes me hestant about using PHP/MySQL is that it is a client/server and web page oriented product that seems like overkill for what I want to do. The only thing that I have been using Access for is to keep the membership records for a small singles club. I am the membership person and have used the Access database that I created to keep the membership records. It is also used to print the mailing address labels for the newsletter. Perhaps I should just run my old copy of Access 2000 under Linux.

Recently, I have been using the Linux version of VMWare to run Windows 2000 in a Window under Linux. From there I use Access 2003 to update the club's membership records. I only use VMWare to boot up Windows 2000 under Linux about once a week. I would prefer to get away from needing Windows for anything. Sorry about getting somewhat off topic.

P.S. I use xpdf to view pdf files on my computer. However, apparently you have a special reason for wanting to use the Adobe Acrobat Reader and the Windows version of it at that.
