Cross platform VNC
K, im lazy as all heck. I use Pc anywhere to access my Windows computers up in my room. But I have allways had to go up there to use my Linux box. Ive just reinstalled with redhat 9 and have been trying to get Tight VNC to work. Its installed and i can see it running but i cant log in from my Windows box. Im not opposed to some other Cross platform VNC program if it works. Please help.......I dont want to have to get up!

VNC is cross platform and uses it's own protocol.
1) What error do you get when you try to connect? 2) Is the vnc server listening and on what port - as root: netstat -nlp | grep 590 3) What are you typing into the connection box on the windows machine? 4) What firewall rules have you got in place on the linux box: iptables -nL If you are unsure about 2 and 4 then just post the output of the commands and I will try to explain it. |
